Heron Corn Mill Hydro-works

Works at this Mill consisted of the construction of a powerhouse and installation of turbine and connection to the local grid.

As the site was within the fast flowing river at Beetham, significant temporary works were required and despite the works being completed through a particularly wet summer minimal time was lost to flooding.

The works also involved alterations to an existing limestone weir, the creation of a new fish pass and construction of a new access bridge.

The powerhouse was constructed from reinforced concrete but was clad with materials sympathetic to the location.
